Closing of the Bones

Pregnancy is a time of expansion. From our Breasts to our Bellies, down to our Hips. After birth, our pelvis stays in an open position. Closing of the Bones brings back together that which is open. The practice is done by giving a light warm oil massage and using a Mexican Rebozo (shawl) to rock the Mother’s body and hip area, followed by tucking the Rebozo around the hips. It is usually performed between 6 to 12 weeks after delivery and can be done on a first-time new Mom or a Woman who is 20-plus years Postpartum.

I had to go out of town for three days which meant being separated from my baby. I was fully breastfeeding and was nervous about my supply decreasing. While away I did notice that my supply had indeed gone down. Upon returning home, I was worried that I’d  have to begin supplementing. I reached out to Laura who didn’t make me feel guilty about it. She came to my house and observed what a feeding looked like for me. After a few minutes, she started with me and helped me relax, and then positioned my baby. Laura was very patient and took time to answer my questions.
